Chinese mushrooms command strong advantages overseas

"China has rich mushroom resources and was also one of the earliest countries to cultivate them. In recent years, mushrooms produced in China have received more and more attention in overseas markets, and their competitive strengths in pricing have also become increasingly apparent,” Lucy of Fujian Ningde Yongjia Trading Co., Ltd. said.

“Currently, Europe and Southeast Asia are our main export markets. In recent years, our export volume has been stable, at about 980 containers. In addition to China, South Korea is also one of the major producers, but China enjoys strong advantages in pricing compared to them. For example, the recent FOB price of our king oyster mushrooms is 10.5 USD/carton (5 kg), and the FOB price of our enoki mushrooms is 6.5 USD/carton (5kg), nearly 20% lower than the Korean products," Lucy said,

“Each year, we also export large volumes of mushrooms to the US market. Although the import tariffs on Chinese produce have risen sharply since last year, they are usually borne by our US customers. In terms of export volume and pricing, higher tariffs have little effect on our exports. ”

As a specialized mushroom manufacturer, Fujian Ningde Yongjia Trading Co., Ltd. owns production centers in various areas in Fujian, producing different types of mushrooms.

"In recent years, the cultivation costs in China has in general been stable, but packaging and labor costs have increased slightly year by year. Compared to 5 years ago, labor costs have increased by nearly 15%. Although higher costs have led to higher product prices, this has not had a significant impact on our sales. "

Fujian Ningde Yongjia Trade Co., Ltd. will participate in Fruit Logistica that takes place from February 5-7 in Berlin. Their stand is at Hall 27 / Stand F-05d. "This year marks the first year that we will take part in Fruit Logistica. We hope to meet more customers and promote more varieties to overseas markets."
