Sharp increase of Spanish potato prices

In a recent session of the Lonja de León, a sharp rise has been recorded in the price of potatoes, especially for red varieties, which had been the ones with the lowest market price at the beginning of the campaign.

Both the Red Scarlett and the Yona have gone from the initial 110 Euro / ton to 170 Euro / ton. Meanwhile, the Agria variety has reached a price of 210 Euro, and the Kennebec has seen its price rise to 220 Euro / ton.

This increase is due to the low supply in the domestic market and to the gradual increase in the prices of the imported production, given the fact that in European potato-producing countries, especially the United Kingdom, autumn rains have not allowed producers to harvest normally.
