Johan Deprez, Deprez Handling Solutions

"Americans come all the way to Belgium for our automation solutions"

Deprez Handling Solutions moved for the third time in 2016. That time it was to Kortemark, Belgium. At this new location, there is plenty of room to grow. The year, 2019, was an eventful one for Deprez. The company worked on various new projects. Nice follow-up projects were, however, also planned in for last year.

"We realized phase two for a french fries company. We also delivered a  new system to a large fresh market company. At the same time, we started a relatively small project in the United States. However, orders for future projects at that company are streaming in. The Americans love our innovative automation solutions," says the company's Johan Deprez.

Building lasting relationships
“If a client approaches us, needing a solution, we like to invite them to Kortemark. Together with that client, we try to find an answer. We visit similar projects too. If you show clients the correct, relative things, you create trust. In our field, building lasting relationships with clients is extremely important.'

"We can distinguish ourselves. We can do so by always meeting our agreements and being spot-on with everything. We are certainly not the cheapest on the market. But we also do not want to be. We focus on the market's top segment. We have the correct, custom-made solution for every problem. This is thanks to our experience and know-how," continues Johan.

Expansion
Deprez is planning to expand considerably in the coming years. "Subject to the necessary permits, we hope to able to tear down our old building soon. We want to replace them with new buildings. These include a modern, fully automated powder coating facility. In the new buildings, we will focus entirely on energy-efficiency and sustainability. That will be achieved by, among other things, placing solar panels on all the new roofs again. "

"We have control of all our processes. That allowed us to cut transport as much as possible. We can, therefore, work as sustainably and efficiently as possible. Environmental considerations are not the only challenge. Finding good, suitable personnel is another. We not only offer the necessary training. We also attempt to create an enthusiastic team spirit and a pleasant working environment. In this way, we try to retain employees," Deprez explains.

“Stick to what you are good at”
Deprez Handling Solutions manufactures many of its own machines. The company, however, believes strongly in partnerships. "We do not have the ambition to, for example, develop washing systems or optical sorting machines. There are enough good machine manufacturers for that on the market. We work with them. If a gap were to develop on the market, we would jump in. But, it would have to fit in with our activities."

"People in our R & D department are, however, not lazing about all day. They are working on countless projects. We are trying not to grow too hard, rather gradually. There is no shortage of orders. Our focus, however, lies with delivering the best possible solutions," concludes Johan.
