According to data from the citrus panel of the European Union, released on January 13 by the Directorate General of Agriculture of the European Commission, the average price at origin of Spanish oranges in December stood at 54 Euro / 100 kg, the second highest in the European Union, only surpassed by Italy (€ 95/100 kg). It is still higher than that of Portugal (€ 53/100 kg) and Greece (€ 50/100 kg). The average price of oranges in the EU in December was € 65/100 kg.
The price of Spanish oranges in December 2019 was 12% higher than the average of the same month in the past five years, and 8% lower than in November.
According to the citrus panel, the average price of Spanish oranges in December was similar to that of the same month of 2018 and matched the maximum price achieved in December over the past five years. In the same period, the minimum value stood at € 42/100 kg.
