Ripening produce with an eye on safety

A reliable, efficient and safe source of ethylene is important for any ripening facility. From this, Catalytic Generators developed Ethy-Gen® II Ripening Concentrate which is the only “ripening fluid” to pass the stringent standards of both the US-EPA and UK-CRD.

Since the company manufactures Ethy-Gen® II with pure ingredients, there are no harmful byproducts produced when converted to ethylene in one of their ethylene generators. Ethylene producing generators of Catalytic Generators all feature user-friendly operation, adjustable output settings, and continuous, consistent ethylene production for superior ripening and de-greening.

About 10 years ago, DiMare Fresh was looking to improve their ripening operations on both bananas and tomatoes.  Tony DiMare, Vice President of DiMare Fresh, sought Catalytic Generators for this endeavor.  “We chose Catalytic Generators because of their expertise with ripening fruit and their second to none customer service.  They are the leaders in the industry for fruit ripening,” stated DiMare.

Although ethylene can be beneficial to the ripening process, it can also be explosive.  Catalytic Generators’ ethylene generators and Ethy-Gen® II Ripening Concentrate form a system that, when used as directed, produces these lower concentrations (less than 1,000 ppm) of ethylene required for ripening. Therefore, Catalytic Generators are a very safe commercial form of ripening; they produce small, controlled amounts and cannot produce explosive amounts of ethylene.
