High winds affected Argentina's pome fruit before the harvest

A windstorm with gusts of up to 106 km / h has hit the Argentine provinces of Rio Negro and Neuquen causing trees to fall, countless power outages, and damages to infrastructure.

The winds affected apple and pear trees in the producing region of Alto Valle. It knocked down fruits and affected the thinning, which will likely affect the quality of the fruits just before the beginning of the harvest.

The winds also caused a traffic accident in Chos Malal, as well as the start of a fire and certain affectations to a house in Piedra del Aguila. The greatest gusts of wind were recorded in Cutral Co and Plaza Huincul. There, the winds blew away several roofs, toppled some trees, and started a fire in the rural area of Filli Dei.

The winds also affected the municipalities of Cinco Saltos, Allen, and Roca.

The Civil Defense and volunteer firefighters had to carry out intense work for several hours, attending the people affected by the storm.
