Hans Vanderhallen will be the new director of Hoogstraten cooperative from 1 January 2020. Vanderhallen succeeds Gaston Opdekamp, who will remain associated with the cooperative as an advisor.
The board of directors of Hoogstraten cooperative has decided to transfer the position of director to Hans Vanderhallen on 1 January 2020. This decision was made in good mutual consultation and has been prepared for some time. Gaston Opdekamp will remain associated with Hoogstraten cooperative until his retirement age as a consultant and project manager. In that position he will among other things, follow up the current building projects.
Gaston Opdekamp joined Hoogstraten cooperative on 1 June 1983, where he initially worked in general administration. He later joined management, became deputy director and from the end of 2002 to the present he was director of Hoogstraten cooperative. In those 37 years, Gaston Opdekamp had 5 presidents and worked under 2 predecessors of directors.
Hans Vanderhallen joined the team of Hoogstraten cooperative in 2000 and was immediately able to hit the ground running on the central sorting of peppers. As a logistics manager, he got to know the company from the inside out. In 2016, Hans was appointed as deputy director, making administration and commercialisation more of his working domains. The route to the current succession was already in the works some time ago.
The board of directors is firmly convinced that the gradual nature of this change of management is the best guarantee for the continuity of operations and expresses its full support for its new director.
