Clarebout wants to build a new factory in Dunkirk

Clarebout, a West-Flemish potato processing company, wants to build a factory in the French city of Dunkirk, reports 'Het Laatste Nieuws'. This would be the first foreign factory for the company. According to the plans, the factory should be in the port of Dunkirk. Cost? 140 million euros. However, according to the newspaper, all approvals are not yet complete.

"Dunkirk is the place to be for a major player in the sector," a Clarebout spokesperson told the newspaper. "A third of French potatoes are grown in that region and 4.3 percent of all potatoes in Europe." The company emphasizes that the plans do not change the current projects in Belgium. Clarebout is planning to build a branch in Frameries, but is struggling with resistance.
