A lot of people attended the event organized by Axia Sementi, the new Italian branch of Dutch multinational Axia Vegetable Seeds. Davide Recupero was presented as Country Manager Italy.

Recupero, who is 49 and a purebred Sicilian, has over 20 years of experience in the sector and has already worked for a leading seed company.

"I would like to thank Axia Vegetable Seeds for placing their trust in me. It is a new challenge with new responsibilities and I welcome it, putting myself at the service of Italian agriculture."

Axia's entire management traveled to Vittoria (RG) in Sicily for the occasion, starting with managing director Sandor van Vliet, representative Pieter Immerzeel and representative Hessel Deinum from the Netherlands, director Alois van Vliet from the US, managing director Michel De Winter from Spain and board of directors member Klaas de Haan from China.

The event was moderated by Recupero himself. Sandor van Vliet told the history of Axia from its establishment after personally greeting the "Italian new entry".

Van Vliet listed the various steps that have led Axia to counting several research and/or specialized centers in Italy, Thailand, Mexico, Turkey, Spain, US and, of course, Netherlands, with over 200 people working directly in R&D and marketing activities.

"The Italian tomato market is very important, so we pay special attention to breeding, performed directly in Italy and made available to Italian producers. On an international level, Axia reaches a market with considerable potential for all product ranges - 50 tomato varieties, 15 pepper varieties, 3 pumpkin varieties, 3 aubergine varieties, 10 zucchini and cucumber varieties and 5 watermelon varieties."

In order to promote its products more, Axia follows all the steps along the chain starting with genetics, production, processing, logistics and retail and ending with final consumers. "We do this to anticipate sector trends as well."

Managers of the Axia's main international branches reunited in Vittoria (RG) for the occasion.

All Axia managers then spoke to introduce themselves and offered their congratulations for the company's new Italian adventure.
