Due to lower production and drier weather

This year's Chinese cabbage prices higher than last year

Chinese cabbage is an essential vegetable in the winter. Although current wholesale prices are slightly higher than in the same period of last year, this vegetable is still one of the lower-priced in the market.

Wholesale prices this year have been relatively stable, at 0.4-0.5 yuan/half a kilo, nearly doubled from 0.25-0.3 yuan during this period of last year. Due to the large volume and low prices last year, dedicated acreages have been lower this year. This year's dry climate and reduced production have also contributed to the higher prices. With the coming of New Year's Day and the Spring Festival, prices of winter vegetables are expected to rise slightly.

Pricing data over recent years show that vegetables are subject to significant seasonal fluctuations, and the highest prices generally occur around the Spring Festival each year. At the same time, as the temperatures drop, the public still has a certain demand for stocking up food, so the prices of vegetables that are easy to store, such as Chinese cabbages, still have room to rise before the Spring Festival, but the rises will not be significant and will be within the normal range of fluctuation.
