First part of the Sino-US trade agreement awaits official ratification

US agrees to import of Chinese pears, oranges, and fresh jujubes

China and the USA announced the first stage of their trade agreement on December 13th. The agreement covers 9 sections and contains promises regarding US tariff concessions and stronger protection of intellectual property rights. However, the agreement still awaits official ratification from both sides.

According to Han Jun, Chinese Vice-Minister of Agriculture, China will greatly increase import of US agricultural products once the initial agreement is implemented. This agreement will help China complement the limited supply of domestic agricultural products. Vice-minister Han also stated that the US agreed to the import of Chinese "cooked poultry, catfish products", as well as "pears, oranges, and fresh jujubes.
