In 2019, 1.3 million tons of fruits and vegetables worth 1 billion 100 million dollars have been exported by Uzbekistan. This, of course, is important for the development of the country's industry, according to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
He said that for the country's agricultural producers, the big question is how to ensure high-quality processing and the supply of locally-grown fruits and vegetables to the domestic and foreign markets, preventing spoilage and losses.
“This year, special attention has been paid to this task, with 1 trillion 37 billion soums (1 dollar: 9,500 soums) in investments. As a result, 180 modern centers with a capacity of 254 thousand tons have been built to handle the processing, storage and logistics of fruits and vegetables. Thanks to this, over 54 thousand new jobs have been created,” said Mirziyoyev.
He added that at present, "our country is processing 3 million 500 thousand tons of agricultural products and exporting finished products worth 350 million dollars."
“We have set the goal of bringing fruit and vegetable exports to 2 billion 500 million dollars next year, and up to 5 billion dollars in the next three years. To this end, the best practices of countries such as Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, Greece, Turkey, Russia, China, South Korea, Vietnam or Indonesia have been widely introduced,” said the President of Uzbekistan.
