Every year, December is a challenging month. Sales of exotic fruit products and other 'fine' special items are increasing enormously and food retailers are creating shelf space for an extended selection of fresh products. For Dutch supplier Frankort & Koning, based at Fresh Park Venlo, this is also a dynamic time in which all tasks have to be mastered together with the international partners, comments Sales Manager Leon van den Hombergh.
"The current assortment ranges from berries of every variety to cherries from all over the world. The standard assortment should not be forgotten either," says Van den Hombergh. On top of that, there are more problems with the weather at this time of year. "In addition to that, there are strikes regularly, as well as shipping delays. So we certainly will never be bored," it concludes.
