Parallel to the constantly growing selection of end product packaging, the last few years have also seen some progress in the area of bulk packaging. In this market segment, too, there is a growing demand for sensible reusable solutions that combine an attractive appearance with efficiency.
Above all, the management of CargoPlast LLC sees a clear upward trend in direct marketing: "We want to offer a suitable solution to the increasing number of self-marketing pome fruit producers", explains Managing Director Robert Reck-Heinrich.
The company is located in the heart of the Lake Constance region, the heartland of the Southern German pome fruit industry. Beyond the market - in the wholesale sector as well as in direct marketing - Salemer LLC has rapidly expanded its activities in recent years, Reck-Heinrich stresses. "Reusable packaging is in absolute demand."
More and more pome fruit producers are focusing on direct marketing because wholesale prices are currently not lucrative. "At the same time, there is a growing awareness on the part of growers that they can sell interesting quantities in direct marketing and thus achieve better margins.
Robert Reck-Heinrich presented the two reusable solutions for direct marketing and wholesale at expoSE Karlsruhe.
According to Reck-Heinrich, this distinct target group needs its own packaging: "Pretty and as efficient as possible, so that you can furnish your farm shop stylishly. Our multi-passage pallets with polymer wood look meet these needs perfectly. We offer the customer not only the boxes, but also the corresponding display."
Clever Fresh: Effective & robust
Parallel to the reusable system for direct marketing, CargoPlast, in cooperation with manufacturer Bekuplast LLC, also relies on efficient solutions for the wholesale trade. Reck-Heinrich: "Our Clever Fresh system is a long-running hit with us. The solution combines effectiveness and robustness in itself, but is also space-saving and can be designed in colour according to the customer's choice. Although the solution itself is not the cheapest on the market, it is still the highest quality process."
The CargoPlast team serves major customers across the fresh produce industry and therefore exhibits at trade fairs throughout Germany - from Fruchtwelt Bodensee to InterAspa and expoSE to Fruit Logistica. Thanks to the partnerships with the two well-known manufacturers mentioned earlier, over the years Cargoplast has been able to establish itself as the leading supplier in Germany and currently covers both sectors of the market: direct marketing and wholesale. "In addition to the Lake Constance district, we are now well represented throughout Germany, from the Alte Land to the Rhineland and Switzerland. Only in the East we are still looking for a reliable sales partner."

Emergency at the apple market
Despite the challenging market situation in the current (core) fruit trade, the Salem-based company is well prepared for the coming years, says Reck-Heinrich. "The price pressure on the producer is increasing. The entire apple industry is currently experiencing a state of emergency, simply because too much supplementary imports are pushing the market during the domestic season. I am therefore convinced that some producers will continue to opt for direct marketing in the coming years and will need an appropriate crate system."
