The export sales of $191.9 million are record highs over the past 5 years, exceeding the volumes of the 2018 season by 9%. The dynamics of an increase in export deliveries of this group of goods has been observed for the past 4 years.
Most of the export deliveries of this product are nuts, of which 47,200 tons were exported over a 10-month period, totaling $ 86.4 million. The share of nuts amounted to 45% of the total cost of fruit products delivered abroad. The main importers of Ukrainian walnut are Turkey, Greece, France, Azerbaijan, Iraq, the Netherlands, Romania, Lebanon, Bulgaria and Germany. In terms of exported peeled walnut, Ukraine is one of the three world leaders, second only to the United States and Mexico.
However, this season, Ukrainian producers are forced to reduce the price of their products due to an increase in the supply of walnuts in the market. Many countries are now actively increasing the production and export of walnuts.
Also, a significant part of export revenue is accounted for by frozen berries, which for the 10 months of 2019 exported 41,700 tons worth $ 71.2 million. Over the past 5 years, revenue from the supply of frozen Ukrainian berries abroad has increased almost 2 times. Such an increase in export deliveries in this segment is due to an increase in world consumption of berries. This applies to both frozen and fresh produce. The main importers of Ukrainian frozen berries remain EU countries such as Poland, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia and France.
