Hong Kong welcomes this season's first shipping container of cherries

Hong Kong welcomed this season's first shipping container of cherries on December 6th. Mr. Huang Yulin of Guangzhou Chun Wan Yi Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. recently talked about cherry import. The ship that brought the cherries to Hong Kong carried a total of 20 shipping containers full of cherries, including 5 shipping containers for Chun Wan Yi Supply Chain Management. Most of these cherries were pre-ordered by companies in mainland China. Only a small portion of the cherries will go to fruit traders in Hong Kong.

"The chaotic situation in Hong Kong has slightly calmed down in recent days. Port operations have not been seriously affected. The port authorities can still guarantee that all ships will be processed on time." When asked about the effect of unrest in Chile on cherry export, manager Huang said, "it is our understanding that the Chilean Cherry Association, suppliers and protest organizations, have all reached an agreement not to interrupt the cherry export. All the ships left Chile on time apart from one ship that has been canceled because there was not enough cargo."

Manager Huang also talked about the conditions in the cherry import market: "The import volume earlier this season was a bit smaller than in previous years. However, this year the supply season began a bit later than usual. Clients received their cherries with a slight delay. It is therefore too soon to make predictions for the latter half of the cherry import season. However, I personally do not expect a huge difference in import volume between this year and last year."

Chun Wan Yi Supply Chain Management is a company that specializes in cross-border fruit distribution services. The company provides comprehensive supply chain management services for distribution overland, via sea, and through the air. The company has offices in ports all over the globe. Chun Wan Yi processes an annual volume of around 18 thousand refrigerated shipping containers. "We hope to support an even greater number of fruit traders with our specialized services."
