New cold store and logistics centre for Kivits-Goes, VGK Cool Logistics and ERP at Nieuw Reijerwaard

The Dutch company, Kivits-Goes Beheer BV wants to build a new cold storage and logistics centre at the Nieuw Reijerwaard Business Park. This will be for, mainly, fruit. Kivits-Goes needs 2,4 hectares of land for this. They have reserved a plot on Selderijweg in the Dutch town of Ridderkerk.

The building will be developed in 2020. Once it is finished, three companies will share the location. These are Kivits-Goes, VGK Cool Logistics, and ERP. Kivits-Goes Beheer holds shares in all three of these businesses.

Rob van Opzeeland, Director at Kivits-Goes Beheer BV, says, "We have been looking for a large, new, sustainable, effective location near Rotterdam for some time now. Our philosophy of taking care of all our client's needs is very popular and demanded additional space."

Gert-Jan Metselaar is Nieuwe Reijerwaard's Director. He is pleased with this reservations. "Kivits-Goes's wishes and demand fit perfectly with what Nieuw Reijerwaard has to offer - a strategic location, innovation, sustainability, and broad partner collaboration possibilities."

Multiple business units under one roof
“The idea behind this large-scale construction is to house multiple business units under one common roof," Rob says. "In the first phase, the building will offer storage space for almost 20,000 pallets of fruit. Kivits-Goes and VGK will manage this."

"There will also be a 3,500 m2 packaging space and well as office space for permanent clients. Kivits-Goes and VGK intend to organize several things together with clients who need office space. Included are a central company restaurant and a fitness area.”

The development of the building is in Kivits–Goes Beheer's hands. It will be supervised by the general contracting firm, Willy Naessens Nederland BV. After completion, Kivits-Goes will transfer the building to the real estate developer, WDP. With this, they strengthen their real estate portfolio in the Barendrecht-Ridderkerk agri-logistics cluster. Research is currently being done into a second phase of construction.

Michiel Assink, WDP's General Director, says," Investing in this logistical cold storage centre is an excellent addition to our portfolio. This portfolio is located in the Barendrecht-Ridderkerk agri-logistics cluster. This investment also fits well with our strategy - investing and developing more in specific logistics clusters in the Netherlands. We are delighted to welcome Kivits-Goes as a new tenant."

Nieuw Reijerwaard
The development of the Nieuw Reijerwaard business park is managed by the Nieuw Reijerwaard Joint Scheme (GRNR). This development is a 96-hectare expansion of the current agri-fresh food cluster in Barendrecht and Ridderkerk. Nieuw Reijerwaard is situated at Dutch Fresh Port, the largest specialized agri-fresh food cluster in the Netherlands.

Dutch Fresh Port offers a wide range of business opportunities. In particular for service providers that reinforce each other. These include national and international trading companies, fruit and vegetable packers and processors, as well as cold storage and pallet trading companies. Dutch Fresh Port is centrally located in the Netherlands. It is close to the Port of Rotterdam and conveniently located near the A15, A16 and A29 highways.
