Company Hai Thanh from Vietnam relies on KRONEN technology in mango processing

Increased capacity and efficiency of convenience production

For two months now, a KRONEN GS 10-2 belt cutting machine has been in operation in mango processing at HAI THANH, a company based in Vietnam. The company, which originally specialised in the processing of seafood and the production of surimi, recently expanded its business activities to include fruit processing.

Before the GS 10-2 was installed, the mangos were cut manually. To increase production capacity and efficiency, the GS 10-2 has now been put into operation. The decision for this investment was easy: The previous processing capacity of one person in manual work was 25 kg / hour - with the GS 10-2 now up to 500 kg / hour fresh or frozen mangos (the latter with an optimal temperature of -5C°) can be cut. The GS 10-2 is equipped with a custom-made cube grid, which was specially developed for processing mangos into cubes. The cube grid was adapted to the specific requirements of HAI THANH so that a production of 20 x 20 mm squares is now possible - the third dimension of the cubes is determined by the thickness of the halved mangos.

Processing of fruit exotics
The company currently has 400 employees and operates a production facility for processing fruit and vegetables and an adjoining cold store on a total of 4290 m2. In addition to mangos, the company also processes frozen (IQF Individual Quick Frozen) pineapples, watermelons, papayas, dragon fruit, aloe vera, limes and taro products (water bread root). The processed fruits are delivered to customers in Asia, like Japan, Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, China and Europe.

The company attached particular importance to a low loss ratio, which HAI THANH expects to be below 5%. Smaller unwanted product sections can be separated by a sieve. Another important criterion for the selection of the machine was the easy and quick cleaning, as the machine has to be cleaned after a few hours when processing mangoes due to the bonding of the surfaces and the resulting adhesion of the mango pieces. The GS 10-2 fulfils this requirement by enabling a cleaning process within a few minutes, without additional tools.

Ongoing investments
The purchase of the KRONEN belt cutting machine is part of the expansion of HAI THANH's business activities and ongoing investments to become one of the leading fruit, vegetable and seafood processing companies in the Mekong Delta region. The company wants to offer its national and international customers high quality products, with particular emphasis on the production of healthy food.
