Iranian kiwifruit sorted with Italian technology

Arya Sam Coldstore & Food is now using a sorting line designed and installed by Italian company Futura to sort its kiwifruits.

At the centre: Omar Papi in Iran with the company representatives

"Our company supplies fresh produces and our core business is apples and kiwis of which, this year, we have 45,000 and 11,000 tonnes respectively. We are very competitive and have excellent facility for these products. Our main markets are currently the Gulf area and India but we believe that with the quality we have, we could approach even more markets. We want everyone to obtain a better quality at a better price, especially since we know that our prices are more competitive than the Italian and Greek Kiwis." explains company manager Daniel Arjomandi.

According to Mr. Arjomandi, their competitiveness will improve further due to this advanced Italian technology. "Our Futura processing line makes us even more competitive, as it guarantees better sorting and improved flexibility, so we can supply our clients quicker. Thanks to the new line, we can sort and package up to 13 tonnes of kiwifruit an hour, which means 120-130 tonnes a day."

The Arjomandi family business has been operating in this sector for over 65 years. They own 120 hectares of kiwifruit in total with average yields of 35 tonnes per hectare. They also purchase from other growers.

"We chose Futura because we knew them and were sure about their standards. In addition, we believe their post-purchase service and our relationships constitute our strong points. The machine operates in our warehouse in the Mazandaran region in Iran. The company took care of the local assembly, installation and training. We have been very satisfied with them."

From a technical point of view, Futura manufactured a sorting line customized to the client needs. "The new line enables us to supply our clients efficiently and effectively. We can now process up to 120-130 tonnes a day with the utmost grade precision and delicacy. We are now studying similar solutions for apples.

Futura will attend Fruit Logistica between 5th and 7th February 2020, Hall 3.1 – Stand C07.
