Didier Groven, Enzafruit New Zealand

"This year we picked 23% more European Jazz apples than last year"

“The European Jazz season has started well. The volumes are promising, but the colouring of the apples is also good. Large volumes were already picked during the first harvest, which means that the fruit is very beautiful this year, "says Didier Groven from Enzafruit New Zealand. “We have already started with the French and Italian Jazz and this week the first German Jazz apples came on the market. All apples have been picked and the European season will last until the end of May / beginning of June when the New Zealand season starts."

"The size of the Jazz apples are normal this year. TThis means that we have enough thick sizes for wholesalers but also for retailers who often prefer various sizes, ”said Didier. "Due to the good growing conditions and numerous young plantations that came into production in France and in Germany, we have picked 23% more this year than previous year."

They are also satisfied with the demand for the Jazz apples at Enzafruit New Zealand. "The demand is still increasing and more and more consumers are discovering the taste of the Jazz apple that they greatly admire," notes Groven. “To respond to the plastic-free packaging trend, we are working on a new and plastic-free packaging. In the new year, we hope to launch the packaging on a small scale, and then we will gradually extend this application to other packers. The new packaging will be available in both the 4 and 6 packs. "
