According to analysts of the EastFruit project, the price of root crops continues to decline in the Ukrainian market. Experts say that the main reason for the downward price trend in this segment is an increase in the supply combined with a moderate demand for carrots and beets.
Producers have recently been shipping carrots at a price of 2.5-3.5 UAH / kg ($ 0.1-0.14 / kg), which is on average 14% cheaper than a week earlier. The price of beets has also fallen on average by 16%, and the product is being marketed for 2-3.5 UAH / kg ($ 0.08-0.14 / kg).
According to the analysts, the current demand for root crops in the Ukrainian market stands at a catastrophically low level. At the moment, the sale of these products is carried out only under previously signed agreements. Uncontracted volumes are sold with great difficulty.
It is worth mentioning that at the moment, root crops in Ukraine are significantly cheaper than in the same period last year. To be precise, the current price of carrots in the Ukrainian market is on average 1.5 times lower than last year, and beets are on average 43% cheaper than a year ago.
