"Chinese clients look for the storage quality of high-end air-conditioning"

The Chinese air-conditioned storage industry has rapidly developed in the last few years. However, the quality of Chinese air-conditioned storage is not yet at the same level as air-conditioned storage in developed Western countries. Still, people in the industry are quite pleased with the great advancements, for example, in the understanding of air-conditioned warehouse functionality or the growing recognition of the value of brand quality.

Ms. Duan Yu, market manager of Dehezi (Beijing) Artificial Environment Technology Co., Ltd. recently talked about the current development of air-conditioned warehouses in Chinese production areas.

"There are various reasons for the apparent difference between the air-conditioned storage industry in China and in the West. One reason is intertwined with the relationship between planning concepts in the initial phase and the manufacturing of equipment as well as the use of investment in the second phase."

"In China, few people understand the concept of continuously improving something that already functions well. Another reason is the long-term character of the air-conditioned storage industry. In this industry we can not quickly innovate current technology in a short period. One of the key directions for Dehezi is to figure out how to apply current technology in a manner that makes sense and guarantees efficiency. Although many people in this industry will point out a great variety of aspects where Chinese companies and Western companies differ, in my opinion the most important differences are related to industrial concepts and attitudes."

"In recent years, Dehezi constructed model warehouses that integrate multiple supply chain functions, such as storage, trade, and transfer, in one distribution platform. At the same time, the company invested much energy and resources to change and improve the way clients think about the industry. Dehezi invests a lot of energy in training not just the leading enterprises in different areas, but also the companies that show a willingness to pay attention to their brand quality. What we see is that medium and small companies with a keen sense for developments in the industry are beginning to change the way they think. They are looking for outstanding storage quality that continues to improve and they are looking for the product quality of fruit from high-end, air-conditioned warehouses."

"Dehezi also continues to work closely together with partners in the Netherlands. The company is involved in several projects in fruit production areas in Europe. Together we identify possible problems and find ways to improve. Dehezi has already begun to implement these technologies in China. While we continue to participate in these international projects, we also work hard to make sure these technologies are quickly and efficiently implemented in China."

"In China, the number of projects that involve large-scale air-conditioned storage has rapidly grown in the last few years. However, there are still some areas where people value quantity over quality. Our own market research shows that a large number of intermediary traders and farmers are aware of the need for top-quality products, but they have a limited understanding of air-conditioning technology. This leads to confusion between transport trucks with air-conditioning, and industrial standard, effective, air-conditioned trucks. In some areas air-conditioned trucks are less efficient than common, refrigerated trucks as a result of this confusion. Another consequence of this misunderstanding is the idea that air-conditioned trucks waste energy and harm the environment, which makes them incompatible with the current direction of industrial development."
