Almeria's Territorial Delegation of the Council of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development of the Government of Andalusia has filed disciplinary charges against five different companies in the province of Almeria for re-labeling fruit and vegetable products, mainly from Morocco.
Councilor Carmen Crespo stressed that the Delegation has carried out a total of 223 inspections, 30% more than those previously carried out, and more exhaustive. She added that these inspections are still underway.
She has also asked Spain's central Government to strengthen the controls at the border inspection points, so that the quotas agreed with third countries are respected. There should be more staff and more controls on the phytosanitary conditions of these fruits and vegetables.
