According to President of the Federation of Fruit Producers of Chile (Fedefruta) Jorge Valenzuela, the cherry is still the star product to lead Chile's exports. The grape is in the process of changes, but its sale is assured. Exports of nuts have increased in volume and value by 34%”.
At Maritime World, the representative of the Chilean fruit producers made an exposition at the Folovap session No. 144 in order to publicize the fruit export situation, evaluate the results of 2019 and refer to the expectations for the 2020.
Valenzuela indicated that the evaluation is positive this year and that China is still the main buyer of the sector for 2020. "We have the fruits and the buyers; we just have to work in a coordinated way so that the logistics work optimally".
Valenzuela, in addition to thanking the management of the ports, Livestock and Customs Agricultural Service for port operation and exports in the current context of the country, indicated that for Fedefruta, which is formed by 27 trade associations, "the big concern is the logistics issue".
He added that "We are making every effort to keep doing the job in a normal way. We have not stopped and the social crisis in the countryside has not affected us so strongly. We are doing the job.”
