The Industrial Ceballos UEB (base business unit) has two new processing lines, one for processing pineapples and the other to package the productions in the Doy pack format, which will allow the UEB to make natural pineapple juices that can be frozen or kept in an aseptic way (free of germs in the total absence of cold). This project is part of Cuba's efforts to develop investment processes that provide foreign currency to the country and that increase the supply of products to the population.
Rodolfo Morales Perez, the director of the UEB, stated that the new line will simultaneously process 15 to 20 tons of fruit for juices and about 700 kilograms of fruit for sweets in syrup per hour.
The cost of the investment exceeds two million dollars and the enlistment was carried out by specialists and workers of the UEB itself, with foreign advice. The other line, which had a cost of about $200,000, will be used for packaging in the Doy pack in new formats of one and 2.5 kilograms and will work together with a smaller packing line that the company already had. The company is waiting for the arrival of specialists of the foreign company that provides the equipment to start operations of both lines.
With the new facilities, the UEB belonging to the Ceballos Agroindustrial Company has 12 processing lines to strengthen its productivity.
