"The first Australian mangoes of this season arrived by plane in Shanghai on the 7th of November"

"Plans to export Australian mangoes to China not yet affected by bushfires"

The cool and dry weather at the beginning of the year affected the growth of Australian mangoes. The mangoes therefore entered the market a bit later than in previous years. Australian mangoes are very popular in the global market.

Ms. Sunny of One Fruit recently talked about mango exports from Australia to China: "We first assumed that the mangoes would enter the market at the end of October, as in previous years, but the weather conditions slowed down the ripening process. Our supply was delayed. In the end, our first shipment of mangoes arrived by plane in Shanghai on the 7th of November. We decided to fly them in to provide our customers with swift, convenient service, and fresh products."

"We first exported Australian mangoes to the Chinese market last year. We received great market feedback. We have therefore decided to continue exporting Australian mangoes to China this year. We even expanded our export volume. If all goes according to plan, we can supply the Chinese market for more than 3 months this year. This is much longer than in previous years. The first time Australian mangoes entered the Chinese market, in 2009, competition was quite fierce. However, our mangoes are not really affected by Chinese mangoes because we have different target markets. We mainly produce mangoes for the high-end market in China. Demand is quite strong. The current market price is around 70-80 yuan [9.99-11.42 USD] per 0.5 kg."

Australia recently suffered from forest fires in southern and eastern Australia. The forest fires have not been extinguished yet. They have even spread to other areas. According to Sunny, "Our mango sales have not yet suffered from the forest fires. The mango plantations of our partners are located in the north of the country far from the affected areas. We can ship and deliver our mangoes according to schedule."

OneFruit imports different mango varieties from Australia. The most common one is the R2E2. "The R2E2 mango variety is the most exported mango in Australia. The product quality is good. Australian mangoes are characterized by the large size of the fruit, the small size of the stone, and the lack of fibers. The flavor is sweet and the fruit flesh is not too soft. This mango variety has a rich fragrance. Furthermore, the R2E2 is large and looks attractive. Chinese consumers pay much attention to these two qualities when they purchase fruit,"

"In addition to Australian mangoes, OneFruit also manages the import of green grapes from Korea, and Musang King durian from Malaysia. The company is continuously searching for premium fruits from across the world that they can import for the Chinese market.
