A Northern Territory mango grower has uncovered a massive mango, weighing 1.5 kilograms. Stephen Jenkins, of Jenko's Mangoes in Noonamah, said his wife found the gigantic summer favourite when she was sorting fruit. "She noticed how big it was, and put it aside," he told 9News.
"I think a lot of people got a surprise - especially the staff."
Mr Jenkins, who has 25 years' experience in the business, said large mangoes are uncovered every harvest, but this particular fruit was one of the heaviest he has come across. “It's unusual - mangoes are about six kilos per box, and you'll quite often get six, seven or eight R2E2's (A type of mango) to a box, but this one would be a four," he said. "It's pretty big when you think about it."
