Pads serve to absorb and bind liquids from perishable food. This not only results in a more appealing presentation, but also increases hygiene and this makes for a longer shelf life of the packaged product. Specialized company W. Dimer LLC, based in Laufenburg, will present the newly developed DIMER ecoline absorbent inserts made from renewable raw materials, at this year's expoSE.
Armin Dannenberger, Managing Director of the company, at last year's ExpoSE in Karlsruhe.
The new solution consists of grass paper or pergo paper. The complete pad is made from renewable raw materials and is used as absorbent padding in berry and fruit packaging. "The solution is available in various absorbencies, individual formats, compostable according to EN 13432 and, depending on the condition, home-compostable," explains company spokeswoman Gerlinde Dannenberger.
Versatile
The absorbent pads are versatile and have received a good response across the fruit and vegetable industry, management confirmed in last year's interview with FreshPlaza. The new Ecoline solution is also used to package a wide variety of products. "The pads are primarily suitable for soft and pome fruit, but also for the storage and packaging of vegetables."
