Thai fruits on sale in China to attract consumers

Over recent years, with the rising consumer power in China, the demand in the country’s fruit market has also increased significantly. Most of China's major fruit suppliers are in Southeast Asia, such as Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Due to the strong demand in the Chinese market, various major fruit suppliers have been actively seeking cooperations recently.

According to the latest media report published on October 24, the Thailand International Trade Promotion Agency recently initiated a new project to increase the export of fruit and innovative products to China. Within the framework of this project, Thailand plans to increase fruit exports to many cities in China in the period between October 2019 and July 2020. In addition, on the 25th and 26th of this month, Thailand also put its coconuts, grapefruit, longan and other fruits on sale in the Chinese market to attract more Chinese consumers.

Data show that within the first nine months of this year, Thailand exported a total of 1.986 billion US dollars worth of fresh, chilled, frozen, and dried fruits to the Chinese market, an increase of 90.62%. It is worth noting that among the over 40 countries authorized to export fruits to China, Thailand is one of the few that offer the most varieties.

China is an important buyer of fruit from Thailand, and many Chinese companies have also opened processing plants in Thailand. With the help of Chinese technologies, the quality and production of many fruits in Thailand have been greatly improved, and they have been well received in overseas markets.
