At P. Zuijderwijk Import, the import season for the Spanish Intense plum tomatoes has slowly started again. "Small volumes are coming in now. I have already contracted the largest part," says Paul Zuijderwijk. He supplies the tomatoes under the Roxy brand and has them available in sizes M, MP and MM.
His main customers are exporters, wholesalers, but there is also huge interest from processing companies. "Intense tomatoes have a higher density than other tomatoes without losing shape or fruit juice. For sandwiches, it is really a world class tomato. That is why it is very popular with the hotel and catering industry, to where 90% of the product is supplied," concludes Paul. He expects to offer Spanish Intense tomatoes until the end of April.
