"First pineapples from Hainan, China, available soon"

Many places in China are beginning to get colder now that autumn has arrived, but the temperature in Hainan is still very high. In the next few months, there will be new products from Hainan coming onto the market, such as blood oranges, watermelons, and pineapples.

Tiandiren, one of Hainan's large pineapple growers and distributors, has begun to further expand their brand influence in China and standardize their production process over the past few years to ensure a stable quality. Their first pineapples of the new season will be available on November 8.

“In the 2019-2020 season, we produced a total of 1.2 million boxes of pineapples and built a packaging plant run in accordance with international standards to ensure product quality. The Chinese market now is very demanding for good quality pineapples, and the overall demand growth rate is 6% per year. In this context, we are also expanding our acreages. This year, our planted acreages have reached 15,000 mu and they are expected to be expanded to 30,000 acres in three years. We hope to become the top brand in China, so we pay more attention to standardized color measurement, harvest standards, and shipment control,” Mr. Wu commented.

In addition to locally grown pineapples, China is also importing a large volume of overseas pineapples, especially from Taiwan and the Philippines, two important producers. In addition, this year also saw Costa Rican pineapples entering the Chinese market for the first time.

Mr. Wu further explained that as of now, imported pineapples have not yet had a big impact on their sales. “Philippine pineapples are mainly available between January to June, and the current sales and market demand are mainly for our own pineapples. Thanks to the varietal differences, Tiandiren’s golden diamond pineapples are not affected by MD2 in the market, and we are in fact leading the market.

Moreover, pineapples grown in Hainan are not affected by transportation. They can be shipped from Hainan and sent to all parts of China within 3 days. We are also the only provider of standardized golden diamond pineapples in the sector. Therefore, our position in the market is very strong."

The varieties they grow are the same as those grown in Taiwan. “The advantages of Hainan Tiandi in growing pineapples are scale, standardization, and industrialization. Compared with Taiwan, we offer excellent stability in quality, therefore we're gradually surpassing Taiwan in terms of market strengths. Secondly, we enjoy a price advantage, since we don't have high transportation costs."

Singles’ Day, November 11, is coming, and Tiandiren has organized special promotions for their products. This day has become a very important sales day in the Chinese market. On this day, the sales volume increases significantly as many consumers believe that it is a special period to get the best deals, greatly improving the purchase volume. The products they sell online on this day will be distributed by couriers, allowing consumers to receive the product as soon as possible.
