First packaging demo products realized in Polyhydroxyalkanoates presented during Fruit Attraction

Following the presentation of the Zeropack project that took place at Fruit Logistica in Berlin last February, the company will present in a press conference at the Fruit Attraction fair in Madrid the first packaging demo products realized in Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs). It is a family of biopolymers that can be produced starting from food and agricultural waste and used for the production of bioplastics that have the revolutionary feature of being completely biodegradable in nature.

This is a fundamental step for Zeropack because it passes from the purely planning phase to the presentation of the first concrete results of the continuous research and experimentation carried out in close collaboration with Bio-on. The realization of these first packaging confirms the good technical features of the PHAs and their enormous potential in different areas, making them more and more the ideal candidates for the concrete and comprehensive solution of a meaningful part of the plastic pollution issues.

The press conference will be held on October 24th at 11.00 am in the Retiro room of Fruit Attraction, with the opening speeches by Marco Astorri (Chairman of Bio-on) and Marco Rivoira (CEO of Zeropack and Rivoira), the analysis of Zeropack’s business model by Paolo Boretto (Sales Director of the company) and the presentation of prof. Paola Fabbri (Associate Professor Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental, and Materials Engineering of the University of Bologna) on the technical characteristics of demo products.

In other words, the conference will not only be an opportunity to appreciate the possible applications of PHAs in the field of packaging for the fruit and vegetable sector, but also to know the guidelines of the Zeropack strategy in the “fresh” segment.
