Sofruce-Maria partners with the Moroccan association GIE Ajida

The company Sofruce-Maria - La centrale des producteurs – is about to start the Moroccan campaign with its core items: clementines, specialty tomatoes and berries. The company just settled a new historical and strategic exclusive partnership with GIE Ajida.
The “Association des Jeunes Investisseurs pour le Développement Agricole (Ajida) ” was created in 2015 by 15 young entrepreneurs from Dakhla Oued Eddahab. The association operates on 75 ha with the agronomic support of the producer Rosaflor, also from the same region.

Awarded best production unit of the area during 2018 SIAM (Salon International de l’Agriculture au Maroc) they produce specialty tomatoes and spring melons certified Global Gap, BRC & GRASP.
Thanks to this partnership, Sofruce-Maria will be operating on more than 350 ha in the Dakhla area to produce 16.000 tons of tomato specialties and 7.000 tons of melons. The first trucks of cocktail tomatoes are now being harvested.

Fabien Lefebvre, General Manager of Sofruce-Maria: “Thanks to our sourcing and our strong partnerships we are now operating globally in Morocco, as we have been doing for more than 50 years in Spain. This allows us to offer our clients quality and availability, under all circumstances. This adds value to our products and producers”.

Currently, the tomatoes offered by the company are grown in Agadir and Dakhla. Berries are produced from Kenitra to Dakhla, with significant volumes in Agadir. Citrus is grown from Berkane to the Souss area, with significant volumes in Marrakech and Kenitra.

Fabien Lefebvre explains that “this strategy of global sourcing already effective in Spain and Morocco is now spreading to other Southern countries, like Portugal and Senegal. Here we find natural complements to our assortment. Our strategy is to organize our sourcing in a sustainable way, offering the best of each terroir where it makes sense, keeping it simple and well structured.”

Sofruce-Maria which will be present at Fruit Attraction in Madrid (stand 9B09). This season the company will offer residue-free tomatoes from Senegal and selection of organic veggies from Portugal for the first time.

“Sofruce-Maria cares about everybody, from farmers to end consumers,” adds Fabien Lefebvre.
