Supplies of parsley back up again following late summer heat

Parsley supplies are looking as per usual again following the heat that affected supplies at the end of August and into September.

“A month ago, there were some warm days at the end of the summer in California that affected the production of parsley,” says Camilo Penalosa of Infinite Herbs in Miami, Fl. “But now the weather is more in accordance with what it should be so it’s going well.”

He adds that he doesn’t see any tight supplies with parsley currently and that, weather permitting, he doesn’t anticipate any supply obstacles down the road either. “There’s parsley from California although it’s in its transition soon to Mexico. But the product is still coming out of Oxnard,” says Penalosa, adding that the farms in Salinas, Ca. are already transitioning with supplies. “Then also, at least until the end of the month and into early November, we’ll still have some supplies from New Jersey. That seems to be going well.”

Preparing in Florida
Meanwhile he also adds that Florida is also currently experiencing good weather. “So they’re preparing fields and we should start seeing some parsley around the middle of December, depending on the weather,” adds Penalosa.

Demand for parsley is as per usual. “The supply, because of the prices in the market, is in accordance to demand. The prices are where they should be,” he says. “I think the supply will continue to be steady unless something unexpected happens. When supplies stay steady, pricing stays steady.”
