First bananas from Ecuador arrive in January

First 42 'Fruit and Vegetable Heroes' pick BeFrank

"We at  BeFrank bananas are very proud when looking back on this week. We had three exciting evenings with three different wholesalers, namely Gebr. Van Aarle, Willem Dijk and Postuma. Sharing our mission and converting it into concrete steps with the vegetable and fruit specialists in the Netherlands is not only exciting but also gives us a lot of energy, "says Franklin Ginus.

At Postuma AGF

"BeFrank is a unique concept, 100% sustainability for people and the environment. Uncompromising and completely transparent. Or as we say it: 'tell it like it is!' It is very important to us that our mission is felt and experienced. The fruit and vegetable specialists themselves should feel that they can make a difference. BeFrank has shared its mission and has been able to collect a lot of new heroes, not because it has to, purely because the heroes also want to do their bit for a better world "said Franklin.

Everyone is insured for 2 cents more per kilo
"Our own research shows that about half of all employees are not socially insured. Even when legally required. The reason? Pure poverty. The impact on an entire community can be guessed. When more heroes join BeFrank bananas, then together we are capable of a great deal, which is why we do not exclude, but invite everyone in. How nice would it be if the entire chain could earn a fair living? If we are capable of tackling serious challenges together such as plastic, water consumption, liveable incomes, social insurance, land use and overtime to ensure that everyone is happy eating a banana," Franklin says enthusiastically. "Everything is possible and we are able to make a difference by mainly taking action. We have been talking for too long."

"We will start the test at the beginning of 2020. In January our first bananas will arrive from Ecuador. Exciting, because this is when it will really start," said Franklin. Companies can join the BeFrank banana revolution test shops and make a difference, as many fruit and vegetable specialists are currently doing together with Gebrs van Aarle, Willem Dijk AGF and Postuma AGF.
