Race involving asparagus harvesters

A race for asparagus harvesters took place over the past few weeks in Forlì to compare various solutions equipped with lithium or traditional lead batteries.

"Professional timekeepers were also involved so as to compare completion times. Harvesting machines equipped with a lithium battery proved better than the other ones."

Compared to traditional lead batteries, lithium batteries are lighter (around 10 kg compared to 45). They last around 10 years (11 thousand recharge cycles) against the 2 of traditional batteries and require no maintenance.

"The fact that they need no maintenance makes them truly convenient. There is no need to keep them under charge when they are not in use and they do not require added liquids. In addition, they fully charge in only 2 hours against the 8 needed by traditional batteries. The higher initial cost is fully made up by all these positive aspects."
