PGI Cítricos Valencianos and Fedemco team up to boost sustainability in Valencian citrus farming

The Spanish Federation of the Wooden Container and its Components (FEDEMCO) and the PGI Cítricos Valencianos have signed a Collaboration Agreement with the objective of promoting the image of Valencian Citrus and boosting sustainability in Valencian citrus farming.

As explained by the director of FEDEMCO, Alberto Palmí: “With the signing of this agreement, our goal is to carry out an information and dissemination campaign to promote good commercial and healthy practices in the packaging and marketing of Valencian citrus in FEDEMCO-GROW Wooden Packaging.”

“When it comes to the manufacture of wooden containers and their preparation for commercial purposes, both organizations are going to promote the fulfillment of the food health requirements. This entails making sure that the containers undergo the corresponding sanitary registration, include the product's datasheets, and have a GROW and a NIMF-15 certificate. Moreover, the products should also be traceable,” says Palmí.

For his part, the president of the PGI Cítricos Valencianos, José Barres Gabarda, said that “with this agreement, we will strengthen the relations between both entities, and we will foster greater respect for the environment and rural areas, helping to boost sustainability in the Valencian citrus sector.”

Also, the manager of Cítricos Valencianos, José Enrique Sanz, pointed out that “this agreement could be very good for the Valencian citrus sector, and we hope that the competitiveness of Valencian citrus and the circular economy will improve.”
