In its latest meeting, the Organizing and Advisory Committee of Fruit Attraction has analyzed the main aspects related to the organization of the next edition, which will take place from Tuesday 22 to Thursday 24 October.
The director of the fair, Raúl Calleja, gave a report on the latest participation figures of the eleventh edition, foreseeing a 10% increase compared to 2018, both in terms of exhibition space, which will exceed 55,000 m2, and the number of exhibitors, which will amount to 1,800. More than 90,000 visitors from 130 countries are expected.
The session also served to talk about the wide range of parallel activities and conferences, which given their number will be carried out in different spaces. The Fruit Forum 4 and 6 will host seminars with sectoral themes, such as “Brexit in the fruit and vegetable sector; the viewpoint of Spain and the United Kingdom”, which will be held on Wednesday, October 23; "Biofruit Congress" which will address the characteristics and consumption trends of organic products, and "Technology Attraction", which will analyze innovation and technology as an instrument to improve competitiveness.
In addition, parallel, commercial or sectoral activities will be carried out in the Innova 4 and 5 Forums and in the Smart Agro Forum. This time, Fruit Attraction will also feature a specific forum for the live flower and plant sector: "Flower and Garden Forum", which will address the challenges and opportunities for flower marketers in supermarket chains in Spain, among other topics.
Moreover, the Committee has analyzed the status of the international guest program, which has attracted more than 1,000 buyers from around the world to the fair. This program, funded by IFEMA and operational since the first edition in 2009, allows exhibitors in the field of production to select buyers from outside Spain and invite them to the fair to boost their business. To this we must add the initiative 'Guest Importing Country', carried out in partnership with ICEX, and which will feature China, India and Singapore. These countries will be the protagonists of the World Fresh Forum, which will be held on Wednesday, October 23 and Thursday 24 as a business networking space that will address business relationships between these countries and will make it possible to present business opportunities.
Lastly, there were also reports on the good reception of the Accelera Awards for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, to which 53 projects have been submitted and whose winner will be chosen on Thursday, October 24. These awards are aimed at companies aiming to present the best product or service project for the fruit and vegetable industry, taking into account criteria of innovation, sustainability, applied technology and knowledge.
