Arnaud Gavila, Euronego SL:

“Supermarkets want better quality fresh produce"

“Supermarket consumers want more and more quality products, in France and in Europe. For now, I work mostly with wholesalers, but my next goal is to expand my work with retailers,” explains Arnaud Gavila of Euronego SL, an import-export company located in Spain. “Supermarkets used to be seen as ‘cheap’ and of average quality, but this is changing. Thanks to the great evolution of the consumer demand, supermarkets are going back to an agriculture of good quality. As I work mainly with exceptional or category 1 products, I can meet this demand,” explains Arnaud.

A calm market until October 15th
“At the moment, the market for Spanish products is still very calm. Temperatures are mild, which means that there is quite a lot of national production in many European countries. Each year, the situation is the same. The market will be more active from October 15th, when the national production in our countries of sale is expected to decrease.”

Arnaud works with producers from Murcia, Almeria and Catalonia. He exports 80% to the French market, but also to Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. He offers a wide range of vegetables, such as tomatoes, bell peppers and eggplants. Arnaud works with the seasons and also offers citrus fruits and persimmons, for example.

The campaign for Spanish vegetables will continue until mid-May. “Everything is set to start a quality campaign. We used the months of August and September to meet with our clients. Additionally, we visit various fairs, like Fruit Attraction in Madrid. The programs for the winter are being prepared now.”
