Citrus juice showcased at Anuga

Sicilian blood oranges are known all over the world for their distinctive taste and properties. Ortogel will attend Anuga, the most important European fair to be held in Cologne between 5th and 9th October 2019, to promote the production chain that gathers producers and operators.

"We will bring the 'Sicily' brand to Cologne to promote something that the whole world envies. We are focusing on the long period to strengthen the citrus fruit chain and supply produce that is as genuine and sustainable as possible and that safeguards the interests of producers and consumers," explains Vincenzo Rizzo, sole administrator of Ortogel.

In stand D-069 Hall 8.1, company managers will meet international operators, distributors, professionals from the H&R sector, buyers and journalists from all over the world.

Founded in 1978, Ortogel was the first company to commercialize and process blood orange juice. It now boasts high-quality products sold both in Italy and abroad, with 60% reaching Europe, the US and Japan.

To process the fruit, the company uses top-level technological systems and processing lines updated with the latest innovations.

The 2019 campaign will see a 20-30% drop in production when it comes to the fruit destined to the processing industry except when it comes to blonde oranges and grapefruit, whose volumes are in line with the previous season.

In a sector where the key to success is planning and long-term vision, Ortogel supports companies that work to built a chain that is safe, solid and traceable.

"The full results of the Filiera Sicura project will be visible in 2020: citrus fruit producers and dealers will be the ones responsible for essential changes. The commitment includes the monitoring of productions, the support of actions for a better legislative protection of Sicilian productions, traceability and clear labels."

"As of this year, our packaging will include a QR Code to download our app and obtain a lot of information on our products and territory."
