The price fluctuations in Chinese banana production areas were relatively small last week, in comparison with the significant fluctuations earlier this season, but the overall price does not yet seem stable. The overall trend is still one of price decline.
On the one hand is the increase in the number of production areas in comparison with July and August. Banana production areas in Guangxi in particular gradually began to supply the market with large volumes of bananas. Furthermore, the product quality of bananas from various production areas showed great differences. The banana prices therefore showed great diversity.
On the other hand, banana supply during the Mid-Autumn Festival [13 September, 2019] was less than ideal. This lessened the enthusiasm of visiting traders to place large orders for bananas.
Just as the autumn starts, temperatures are not that high anymore, and the growth of bananas slows down. The overall volume of big bananas is limited. At the moment, production areas and the banana market are both struggling.
