"Smooth distribution of organic Chinese dragon fruit - volumes are growing"

At this is the time of year domestic dragon fruit and imported dragon fruit enter the Chinese market at the same time. There is a great variety in both the product variety and the sizes of the dragon fruit currently available in the market. The retail of imported dragon fruit is relatively slow, but the supply speed of domestic dragon fruit more than satisfies the traders.

As Helena of the Zhenfeng branch office of Guizhou Chuantai Agricultural Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd. recently pointed out, "the current market price of domestic dragon fruit is around 70 yuan [9.79 USD] per 5 kg, while our price is around 80-90 yuan [11.19-12.59 USD] per 5 kg. That is around 10-20 yuan [1.40-2.80 USD] per 5 kg higher than the market price. The reason for this price difference is that the dragon fruit we sell is organic. We benefit from a strong market demand for organic dragon fruit. Our market price is stable this month."

The branch office of Guizhou Chuantai Agriculture has production areas in Guizhou. The branch office began plantation of organic dragon fruit in 2014. The company does not use any type of fertilizer or pesticide in the plantation of organic dragon fruit. "We are quite proud of our market performance in the last few years. We have expanded the surface area devoted to the plantation of organic dragon fruit in response to excellent market feedback from our clients. In addition, this year the weather conditions were favorable for the growth of dragon fruit, which means that our production volume greatly increased this year."

In addition to the plantation of dragon fruit, Guizhou Chuantai Agriculture also specializes in the research and development of product packaging. The company promoted a 2.5 kg gift bag of dragon fruit during the recent Mid-Autumn festival [13 September, 2019].

According to Helena: "We can clearly see how popular this type of packaging is in the Chinese market. Chinese consumers traditionally purchase fruit as gifts during festive periods. They give festively packaged fruit to family and friends to celebrate. Up until now, we have developed three different types of packaging themes: 'Double Happiness', 'Dragon and Phoenix', and 'Flower and Moon'."

The company made a first attempt at dragon fruit export last year. However, they have decided to halt dragon fruit export for this year. "We will not export dragon fruit this year, because the supply in the domestic market does not satisfy demand. At the moment, we simply do not have the surplus to export dragon fruit to other countries.

Furthermore, organic fruit has a relatively short shelf life. When we transport our organic dragon fruit over long distances to other countries, there is a real possibility that the fruit will go bad along the way. However, in the future we hope to improve our export capacity and bring our organic dragon fruit to a greater number of markets across the globe."
