The price of Chinese vegetables is expected to stabilize now that the weather is rainy and the temperature more suitable for the growth of vegetables. In October the price may start an upward trend that could continue until spring. At the same time, many production areas in south China suffered from extreme weather conditions earlier this season and some were flooded by excessive rainfall. These weather conditions resulted in damage and in some cases a complete loss of the harvest. This could lead to further price increase in some production areas.
The vegetable price was relatively high in the first half of this year. The overall surface area for the plantation of some vegetables is expected to grow and if the weather conditions are regular, then supply in the second half of this year will be guaranteed. When supply is sufficient, then there is a limit to the price increase.
