Mexico-based supplier continues to grow tropical fruit category

The rising demand for tropical fruits has inspired one company to continually increase their fruit offerings. Headquartered in Mexico, Coliman has been shipping tropical fruit for more than 50 years. "Coliman has been in business since 1963," said Victor Heredia of Coliman. "We started with bananas and mangoes and now ship avocados, limes, papayas, peppers and several vegetables."

The company shipped its first mangoes to the US and Canada in 1970, followed by Japan in 1980. Over the years, the company has opened and expanded warehouses and distribution centers across North America and also has a presence in the United Kingdom. According to Heredia, the demand for tropical fruits over the decades has continued to grow.

"The demand for tropical fruits from Mexico continues to grow every year," he said. "After expanding our presence in North America, we now ship our fruit globally. Coliman has also noted the increased growth in the organic category, so we also have a range of organic tropical fruits, including bananas. We grow and ship bananas, papayas and avocados year-round, while some other commodities, such as peppers, are available seasonally."

Promoting tropical fruit at PMA Fresh Summit
Coliman will be exhibiting at PMA Fresh Summit in Anaheim in October. The company will have plenty of their fruit on display during the show as well as a number of their team members which will guide visitors to what products are on offer. Additionally, Coliman will be hosting a celebrity chef at their booth.

"The fruits we will be promoting at the PMA Fresh Summit will be bananas, avocados and papayas," Heredia shared. "Visitors to our booth will find a wonderful team happy to serve and we will also be hosting celebrity chef Natalia Delgado."

"PMA is the premier produce trade show, providing an excellent opportunity to meet with our customers and help other people discover what we have on offer at our company," he continued. "We are truly excited to be there!"

Visitors to PMA Fresh Summit will find Coliman at Booth #1559.
