Tomato prices in China shooting up

A few days ago, tomato production areas across China experienced slow sales, but over the past days, prices suddenly shot up. The unpredictable market can be seen in the main tomato production areas:

In the Liaoning market, prices have been rising due to lower supply. Prices today (September 26) are 2.4-4 yuan/kg, 113.33% higher than yesterday (September 25).

Affected by policies regarding the National Day, the supply in Beijing Xinfadi market lowered and prices shot up by 81.6% this week.

Wanbang Market in Henan hasn’t experienced significant fluctuation in tomato prices, but prices today (September 26) show a downward trend, 15% lower compared with yesterday (September 25).

The southwestern regions have recently been affected by the weather. The price at the place of origin has risen, and supply has diminished, leading the tomato market to fluctuate widely.
