Plus its 1300 hectares of citrus

Grupo Atitlan acquires 100% of Frutas Romu

Atitlan, a business group of Valencian origin, has signed an agreement for the acquisition of 100% of Frutas Romu, a Spanish citrus production company. The operation will be closed definitively in the coming weeks, while the paperwork is being arranged.

This operation is not the first one carried out by the business group in the primary sector, where it has been present since 2007 in Elaia (with more than 15,000 hectares of olives and almonds) and since 2012 in Sea8 (sustainable sole aquaculture). Frutas Romu represents a new step in the group's expansion and the first in the group's growth strategy based on citrus fruits and stone fruits in general.

Frutas Romu is a company devoted to the production of citrus fruits which has more than 1,300 hectares in Huelva, the Region of Valencia and the Region of Murcia. The United Kingdom and Spain are its most important markets, since almost 80% of its production is distributed in these two countries.

Francisco Llopis, Primary and Food Sector Manager of the business group, said that “with the acquisition of Frutas Romu, Atitlan is once again investing in the primary sector, betting on a long-term project in a market with great growth potential. For us, the project is especially interesting, as it will allow us to boost the group's expansion and strengthen its position in the primary market.”
