The Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has decreased the frequency of analyses on peach exports to Russia from 40% to 20%. This move will double the speed of peach exports to Russia.
Hayrettin Ucak, chairman of Aegean Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporters Association stated that Turkey exported 34 million USD worth of peaches in 2019 and that 28 million USD (25,4 million Euro) worth of these were destined to Russia.
Ucak said: "Now that the frequency of analysis has decreased, we aim to export 50 million USD (45,4 million Euro) worth of peaches to Russia if yields remain stable in 2020."
Fresh fruit and vegetable exporters are in a race against time, Ucak emphasized. Therefore, he said that they asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to decrease the frequency of analyses in peach exports to Russia. Ucak expressed his contentment that their demand was processed within two working days.
