'Pick & Placing Robot' newest addition to portfolio of ProEx Food LLC:

"Bring your produce to our booth at the Pack Expo and we can process it right then and there"

The Pack Expo in Las Vegas, coming up this month, is going to be a special occasion for the processing and packaging solution supplier ProEx Food LLC: "This is the first time we will display our automation solutions for various fruit and vegetable at an exhibition. We are also bringing our new food grade, stainless steel 'Pick & Placing Robot' to show to potential clients, who can even test them with their own products right at our booth", says Daniel Ghadiri, the CTO and president of the company with offices in the US and Germany.

He explains the three major functions of the delta robot with a our special gripping system which the company developed, using the example of processing fresh sweetcorn: "The robot arm places the cobs on cob saws that use a camera system to determine where the cuts need to be made to avoid damaging the kernels. With our special camera system we see through the husks of sweet corn and the robot knows where exactly the corn kernels start."

"After husking the cobs, the quality is checked with another camera system and the robot can pick damaged or not good corn cobs off the conveyor." In the next step, the robot arm is used to place husked corn onto trays or flow-wrappers. Additionally, placing the packaged produce in boxes and palletizing these boxes can be automized.

Automatizations such as these are the main goal of ProEx Food, providing processors with viable alternatives to scarce manual labor: "At a capacity of 500 cobs per minute this line can be operated by two engineers instead of the 50 workers that would be necessary with a semi-automatic line."

However, fresh sweetcorn is not the only product that can be handled with their lines. "To demonstrate different options to visitors of the exhibition, we will be joined by a programmer who can calibrate the machine to fit their products right at the booth. Almost any fresh fruit or vegetable is possible: Apples, bell peppers, corn, cucumbers, oranges, just come visit us, bring your products and convince yourself!"

You can find ProEx Food LLC at booth LS 6869 at the Pack Expo, September 23-25, in Las Vegas.
