Pumpkin season heats up in California

With temperatures still in the 90’s it may be a little early to dust off the Uggs and break out the flannel, but Fall is right around the corner despite Mother Nature’s fickle forecast.

Most retailers have pumpkins and other fall ornamental items ready for purchase now. “We are very excited about this year’s crop. The fields are looking great and the warm weather has provided the perfect growing condition for us to have an early supply available to meet retailer’s post Labor Day demand,” said Danielle Ratto, Sales for Van Groningen & Sons Inc. Manteca, CA.

Van Groningen and Sons said it has an exciting line up of new and interesting varieties like “Warty Goblins” as well as what it describes as "the Pinterest porch worthy classics like 'Jarradales' and 'Fairytales'".

“We anticipate a successful season this year, yields should be favorable and supplies ample through Halloween.” said Ratto. “There has been talk of shortages in the East due to the heavy rains from the hurricane, which usually drives up demand here in the West,” she added.

So don’t let the heat discourage you, go ahead and order that Pumpkin Spice….even if it’s on ice!
