Ibérica de Patatas to market 550,000 kilos of new potatoes from Madrid

Ibérica de Patatas, one of Spain's biggest consumer potato marketing companies, is once again supplying new potatoes from the region of Madrid to large distributors. It is a product of great quality and freshness, since it is harvested and sorted in the next day. The product has already hit the shelves under the brand "La auténtica Patata-Especial Castiza" (Authentic and Genuine Special-Potato) and will be marketed approximately until mid-October. The company expects to sell 550,000 kilos this campaign; 22% more than in the previous season.

The new potatoes from the Region of Madrid have brought back the flavor of traditional, fresh, high quality potatoes, ideal for any culinary use. Also, given the very short time that passes between the harvest and the marketing, the product keeps its nutritional properties and taste intact. It will be sold washed and in 3 kilo formats.

The marketing by large retailers of the new potatoes from the Region of Madrid aims to give the product's consumption a boost, which will, in turn, help maintain and increase the cultivation of this seasonal product.

As part of its commitment to local and seasonal products, Ibérica de Patatas is pioneering the supply of high-quality Spanish new potatoes, such as the New Potato from Malaga, Spain's first new potato of the season. This potato has been marketed for the past 10 years and its campaign lasts approximately from March to May. In the latest season, more than 600,000 kilos of this product have been sold.
